BEYOND THE BELL
Empowering young people to strengthen belonging, build meaningful connections and shape the kind of school community everyone deserves.
BEYOND THE BELL
Beyond The Bell is a highly engaging student wellbeing and community-building experience designed to strengthen belonging, connection, emotional intelligence and student voice, while empowering young people to play an active role in shaping the culture of their school community.
Young people spend a significant portion of their lives within school communities. These environments have the power to influence how students see themselves, relate to others and experience connection, belonging and support.
At Turn to Me, we believe some of the greatest opportunities for prevention exist within these everyday environments. While awareness is important, awareness alone cannot address the deeper realities that impact wellbeing. Young people also need opportunities to build meaningful relationships, strengthen emotional intelligence, challenge unhealthy social norms and contribute to creating positive community cultures.
Beyond The Bell combines movement, creativity, teamwork, reflection and practical learning through a series of highly interactive experiences that are fun, memorable and deeply impactful. Throughout the day, students collaborate, contribute and learn together as they explore topics including stigma, help-seeking, emotional awareness, self-care, meaningful relationships, belonging and community responsibility.
As the day unfolds, students develop practical skills, strengthen relationships with their peers and gain a deeper appreciation for the role community plays in creating positive outcomes for everyone.
The experience culminates with students working together to construct their own Community of Care. Together, they explore the values, behaviours and commitments they believe should define their school community while identifying what helps people feel welcomed, respected, supported and connected.
At the heart of the experience is a simple belief:
Stronger communities create better outcomes for everyone.
By the end of the day, students leave with practical tools, stronger relationships, greater confidence and a shared understanding of the role they can play in creating a school community where everyone has the opportunity to belong and thrive.

FORMAT & DELIVERY
Beyond The Bell is delivered as a full-day experience and is designed to be tailored to the unique needs, priorities and context of each school community.
Schools are invited to identify a cohort of students they would like to participate in the experience. This may include a specific year level, student leadership group, wellbeing cohort or a diverse group of students brought together from across the broader school community.
The experience is intentionally designed as a journey, with the same group of students participating throughout the day. This approach allows relationships, trust and engagement to strengthen as participants move through each stage of the experience together.
Every Beyond The Bell experience includes a powerful opening session and concludes with Constructing Our Community of Care, where students work together to explore the values, behaviours and commitments they believe should shape the culture of their school community.
Between these two anchor experiences, schools can select between three and five additional activities from the Beyond The Bell experience menu. This flexibility allows schools to create an experience that aligns with the needs of their students while maintaining the integrity and purpose of the overall journey.
While the activities selected may vary, every Beyond The Bell experience is designed to be highly interactive, practical and engaging, with students actively participating, collaborating and contributing throughout the day.
